UWCSEA Community
Two great schools as one
To date, the United World College-Singapore community has raised over $33,000 from generous donors. These funds are being sent directly to the Lamdon flood relief fund for immediate assistance for the students and staff of the school who were most impacted by the devastating flood.
In addition, a “Focus day” was called for the entire UWCSEA school student body to inspire everyone to consider the challenges faced by their friends and fellow students at Lamdon School in Ladakh. The students of UWCSEA then raised the following totals to contribute to the immediate relief of the students at Lamdon School-Leh:
Infants School: S3,290
Junior School: $5,719
Middle School: $5,767
Upper School: $2,520
Senior School: $1,598
Total to date: $18,895
Other events, sales and fund raising efforts are being planned to add to the already impressive efforts mobilized by the UWC community for the welfare of Ladakh in it’s time of need.

UWCSEA Swims for the flood
UWC swimming coach Melissa Cunningham ran the first of the fortnightly “Club Nights” for the swim team on September 17. With the help of some of the parents of members of the team, it turned into a fund raising event for the Ladakh flood relief. It was a great success and the swimmers and parents enjoyed some very well organized swimming and then a great BBQ, drinks, music and socializing afterwards.
The event was started off with a Skype interview (run over the pool PA system) with Stephen Khalek (who was last years Swim Captain) where he described the current situation in Ladakh and the heroic efforts he and his fellow gap year student Wallace Cuthbertson had made during the flood. Mel reports that almost S$7,000 was raised for Ladakh flood relief.
Well done Mel and everyone else who helped to make it such a success!!
