Announcements for Fund Raising Events at CIS:

Hello everyone!

As you have already heard in the meetings there is a fundraiser happening next FRIDAY Sept 24th to raise money for the Lamdon School in Ladakh. Attached to this email is a PDF file that was forwarded to me a few weeks ago regarding the current situation there. If you have a few moments to read over it, or parts of it I think that would be great. There are also lots of pictures which I think really helped me to visualize the actual destruction that has taken place.

Below is a breakdown of the different events that will happen next Friday as well as what I hope is a clear discription of what your role is for the events.

1. Students and STAFF are invited to participate in a “casual dress” day if you donate a minimum of 5.00 to the cause. So…dress down!!! Also…please COLLECT THE DONATIONS FROM YOU ADVISORY STUDENTS!…then….pass the money onto me. I live in room F-5-3….or you can put it in my mailbox.

Along with collecting the money and dressing down…there are 2 other small projects we are working on during advisory that day.

1. All of CIS is making making a book called “Our wishes and hopes for the Lamdon School” which will be brought to Ladakh. It will be a compilation of messages for the students at Lamdon. Prior to the event there will be a blank sheet of paper in you mailbox. Please have the students write their messages on the sheet of paper…they may also draw or put pictures on or whatever they like. Also pass this piece of paper back to me after the event.

2.  The high school has been given a lot of prayer flags from Nepal. Each advisory will recieve 15 flags and some dark markers. On each flag students can write messages as well. The reason for this portion of the project is so that we can have a lasting visual reminder of Ladakh and our commitment to helping them. Once I have collected all of these flags…then I will string them all around the main foyer for all to see.

Basically next Friday during advisory I need you to collect the money and facilitate the two activities. I will HOPEFULLY be able to message all of the students with information about Ladakh as well. Once you have the flags, paper and money then you can send them over to me.

In your mailbox next week you will receive everything you need to make all of this happen.

Thanks so much for your support! Friday the 24th is going to be a great day!
